About The Role

Embark on a transformative journey as an Application Support Analyst at Barclays. This role is pivotal in maintaining the stability, resilience, and security of Barclays' Global Fraud platforms, ensuring the seamless protection of the bank's customers and operational integrity. The Application Support Analyst will be responsible for driving system availability, ensuring data accuracy, and enabling rapid recovery of production systems. Acting as a key liaison across technology, operations, and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will facilitate timely incident resolution, effective communication, and continuous improvement initiatives across US and UK service windows. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical fraud risk management processes, support business continuity, and develop expertise in a dynamic financial environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise and industry knowledge, including:

  • Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools such as AppDynamics, Elasticsearch, Netcool, and Kibana.
  • Experience with middleware and platforms including WebSphere, JBoss, Apache, and Tomcat.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation tools like Jenkins, Chef, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong domain understanding of banking or the financial sector.
  • Proficiency in Unix and Linux environments, including shell scripting capabilities.
  • Additional valued skills include Java/J2EE, APIs, Oracle PL/SQL, and cloud technologies such as OpenShift or aPaaS. Knowledge of AWS is advantageous.
  • Understanding of SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.

Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Relevant certifications and prior experience in application support within a banking or financial services context are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of Barclays' Global Fraud platforms, ensuring high availability and rapid incident response.
  • Coordinate across technology, operations, and business teams to resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Implement and adhere to best practices in incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Utilize observability tools to proactively identify potential system issues and optimize platform performance.
  • Support automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of middleware and platform components.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business resilience.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and incident reports.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve fraud detection capabilities and system security measures.
