- Job Description
- Savage Ventures is seeking a Junior Accountant to drive efficiency and operating outcomes for the
- Savage Ventures’ portfolio of digital media companies. The Junior Accountant is a key member of the internal operations team who will be responsible for working with a team on budgets/forecasts, operational reporting, and working on period closing financial activities.
- A successful candidate will have experience with journal entries, executing month end close on tight
- timelines, optimizing internal processes, working primarily in Quickbooks online, invoicing, bank
- reconciliations, and other bookkeeping activities. This person must be a flexible, cross-functional team player comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
The job is based in Nashville, TN at our headquarters in Germantown.
Responsibilities
- Posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
- Updating accounts receivable and issue invoices
- Updating accounts payable and perform reconciliations
- Provide recommendations to streamline reporting processes and month end close
- Assist in month end close processes
- Perform bank/cash account reconciliations
- Execute accounting activities in accordance with GAAP
- Issuing invoices/journal entries for intercompany activities
- Track and report on sales and use tax for multiple lines of business using 3rd party collections
- and return processing partners
- Validate and send 1099s annually to contractors
- Setting up new vendors, customers, employees
Qualifications
- 5+ years working in Quickbooks online
- 2-3 years working in an accounting role
- Expert level excel skills (e.g. complex vlookup, pivot table capabilities)
- Experience with bill.com or other AP-focused payment systems
- Minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting
- Experience with intercompany transactions and multiple entity month end close processes where
- many dependencies exist
- Experience working in a cross-functional capacity within a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
- Familiarity with data orientation and use of data tools
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to effectively communicate through project management tools, including Asana and Slack
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated history of executing month end close under tight timelines for multiple-entity organizations
- Willingness to undergo criminal and financial background checks
